For corrective action, call participants to verify their whereabouts and actions, address issues like phone battery drainage, and document any concerns or delays. Additionally, patients should start a VTech video call on a different device to confirm the unit's proper attachment. Any tampering alerts must be handled immediately.
Communication Protocol for Answering Alarms:
Step-by-StepInstructions:
1. Dial the number associated with the alarm device.(Top left hand corner overview page)
2. Use the following script: "Hello, this is[Your Name] from BailSafe Australia. We have received an alarm indicating[Details of Alarm, e.g., tamper or out of Geofence]. Can you please explain?"
3. Document the details of the alarm event, including time and date of the alarm, type of alarm, summary of the conversation with the person, and any actions taken or recommended.
Example of Notes:
"Tamper Alarm triggered at 3:15 PM. Called John Doe, who mentioned the strap got caught in his jacket zipper. Advised him to be careful in the future. No further action required."
Escalation Policy:
1. If the participant cannot be reached after the first and second phone calls (made every five minutes), proceed with the third phone call at the 15-minute mark.
2. If the third phone call at 15 minutes is also unsuccessful, escalate the situation to Mr. Oppy at 0448547128.
Reasons for Escalation:
1. Inclusion in an Exclusion Zone: If a participant inadvertently enters an exclusion zone (an area they are typically prohibited Rom entering) and the GPS reader confirms their presence in this zone, immediate escalation becomes necessary.
2. No GPS Signal Alert: In the event an alert indicates that the GPS unit is not tracking, it's treated as a matter urgency. If the participant remains uncontactable for a span of 15 minutes past the alert, mandatory escalation is initiated.
For both primary reasons, the initial protocol is to escalate to management. If the situation is assessed as critical or if management doesn't respond promptly, the next step involves escalation to local police authorities for immediate intervention.
Procedure for Specific Alarms:
A. NO SIGNAL
Script: "Hello, we've noticed that your GPS signal has been off. Can you please check if the device is on and in an area with clear sky visibility?"
Note Example: "No GPS Signal Alarm at 4:20 PM. Called Jane Smith, who was in a basement.
She moved to an open area, and the signal was restored."
b. For Tamper Alarm:
Script: "Hello, our system indicates a tamper attempt on your device. Can you please check the strap advice for any issues?"
Note Example: "Tamper Alarm at5:05 PM. Called John Doe, who accidentally pulled the strap while adjusting. No Damage observed."
Geo-Location Alarm: Outside home zone during curfew
•
Script: "Hello, our system shows you're either in an exclusion zone or not in your designated inclusion zone. Can you please confirm your current location?"
Note Example: "Geo-Location Alarm at 6:30PM. Called Jane Smith, who mistakenly entered an exclusion zone. She mmediately left the area."
