During the period September 2022 to June 2023, BailSafe Australia had a total of 135 referrals, across 95 referring lawyers. Of these referrals, 114 assessments were conducted, leading to 89 bail applications.
There were 52 participants in total, with 7.69% (4 individuals) having their bail revoked and 3.85% (2 individuals) exiting prior to completion. The program saw 23 individuals complete, with the same number still in the program.
A range of therapeutic activities were delivered: including group therapy, case management, counselling, self-help groups, and PROMs. Of the 1304 scheduled sessions, 1132 were attended.
In terms of drug use prior to arrest , a significant majority reported using drugs 4 or more times a week, with 92.77% using drugs other than alcohol this frequently. On presentation, 78% of the patients were likely to have a severe mental disorder or severe psychological distress. However, upon completion, this number d reduced to 17%, with 35% of the patie
